Presell pages – What are they? Why do I need them?

19 Feb

Presell pages are an extremely important part of developing a great back-link profile for any website. Most SEO’s and Professional Link Builders know that in order to get the perfectly optimized anchor, manual link building doesn’t always work. Not every web master you approach is willing to give you the anchor you need to rank well for a given search phrase or term. So, what is all this talk about presell pages? how do we get them? Why should I start buying/using them? Well, let’s take a look.

What is a presell page?

The short and curly is this; A presell page is basically a page that you write for another site (the host) that is perfectly optimized for your link anchors and content (the page). This is not a new concept, in fact, it’s been around for quite some time. You may have heard the term, marketing content hosting, hosted content, hosted marketing pages or billboard ads. Hell! Even a guest post is somewhat of a presell page. Usually a presell page will be linked to site-wide, through either a sidebar, blog roll, footer, etc on an authority site in your niche. These presell pages are an informational and well written articles about your business, your industry, your features and benefits. They are extremely valuable.

Anatomy of a Presell Page

So, Sean, I am a visual person, I really don’t “get it”. Can you bust out Photoshop Paint and show me? SURE! Visually, this is what a presell page scenario looks like:

What are the benefits of using pre sell pages?

  • You will get much more link juice (link power) as up to 5 (five) links will be placed in good, relevant, informational content – that’s good for the user. Remember, when you link out on your presell page, don’t link to the same page 5 times, that won’t be that valuable. Try to drive links into deeper pages of your site.
  • You will get natural, human click-thru traffic in addition to the link juice. The page itself
might even rank, offering a second entry point to your site
  • Your products and content will be placed on an old established site (assuming you have it on an authority domain). Often, the authority site will have dozens of natural, high quality, authority back links (.edu, .gov, .mil) and hundreds of other great .com, .net and .org linking domains from hundreds of different unique IP addresses
  • Your site WILL get a ranking boost and higher trust-rank overall
  • Your site will get into great and trusted neighborhood by being linked from an already trusted site. You can even pull a link sandwich to make your links look even stronger (i.e. sandwich your outbound links between .gov’s and .edu’s for the co-citation)

How do I get pre sell pages and what do I look for?

The article you or your copy writer write, shall really be good for the user – not a simple sales page. It will help the user learn about the industry and business you are working in. With that said, look to school websites that have the .edu TLD within your industry. Most edu’s are going to judge the page by it’s merit and no amount of money will get that page on the edu (unless you know someone). For some reasons bribes under $500 won’t work on edu’s :-) Anyway, if you don’t have any luck with edu’s start to Google some of your industry terms, then look for informational sites. They can be commercial, but chances are they are your competitors if that’s the case. Once you find someone in your niche willing to post your page for money or for the general use of the public, you’re in. Be upfront with the web master and let him know you have links to your site pointing out as well as links to other informational assets. They aren’t stupid and if you try to sneak some “buy viagra online” links in there- they will see them (even if you hide them with in-line CSS) AND those types of links will bring down the overall quality of the post.

Conclusion

Finding, buying, trading, begging or borrowing a presell page on a hosted authority domain is absolutely vital to getting great anchor text. It takes some work and you may have to throw some money to the web master, but overall- it’s going to help you rank for your sought after terms and make some money. I hope this post was informative. If you want to get a presell page on this site, just shoot me a quick email and let me know.

What’s the best way to increase traffic to my site?

25 Jan

You may have asked yourself the question, what’s the best way to increase traffic to my site? Well, there a million ways and a billion methods. I will give you a couple tips that can help you based on my past experience. Obviously, the first thing you may think I will say is rethink your search engine optimization strategy- and you would be right. I will however, try to steer away from that in this article (kind of). Let’s look at a couple things we can do right now to increase traffic, most of which will revolve around your ability to create great content.

1.) Social Networking and Link Bait

Every post you write isn’t going to make it to the top of Digg. Over-marketing every post you write will result in nothing but trouble. The less popular your blog is, the more difficult it will be to build excitement around a post. Linkbait has always been trial and error – create, test it out, refine and re-build. Keep creating great ideas and bolstering them with lots of solid, everyday content and you’ll eventually be big enough to where one out of every 40 posts really does become linkbait. Once you have that link bait, really get on the social media war drum. You should already be building up networks on the popular sites, so that when the time comes for THE ONE that you just make a couple tweets, send a couple PM’s, etc, and bam- it catches and the front page of Digg takes down your server.

2.) Give away free stuff.

Offer something people want at your site. Give them a reason to come back and get more. Offer free downloads and update them regularly. Offer coupons or discounts. Content content content. You can also run contests in the same way, just remember to promote the hell out of it- Photo contests, essay contests, goofy contests, random drawings, anything. If you get a buzz, the free be kings will get on your site like white on rice.

Bonus Blogger Tip:

News Coverage of your City, County and State

Start building up some traffic by getting a nice loyal base in your city or county. Find other bloggers in the city/county, become friends with them and make them aware of your content, then try to stay up to date on news of all sorts- weird but trues are really great. That will garner some links and give you a place to start building a solid readership.  Approach online and traditional media if possible. This will often lead to others placing links pointing to your website, which leads to more clicks and also to improved search engine rankings which in turn means….more traffic.

3.) Submit those Articles

This tip may not bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it’’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have – your articles. Once a week or so take one of your nicely written articles and submit it to places like articlebase.com, ezine articles, etc. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter. How you benefit is through your signature. You create your own signature file on most of those sites, where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website. Anyone who publishes your article has to include your signature so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once. The key to this one is to create valuable content. Cover topics that really need attention.

4.) Participate at Related Forums & Blogs

Whatever industry your site is in, there are bloggers, forums and an online community that’s already active. Depending on the your niche, you may need to open up to engage a larger community. Even today, highly specialized content areas (like business stationery) receive attention, so you shouldn’t have too big of a problem with that. You can use Technorati to find blogs in your niche and then ask around in the comments where the best forums are for that community. You comments will not only provide you more avenues to participate, but they will drive traffic to your site.

5.) Canonicalize your homepage and other pages using a 301 redirect or the rel=”canonical” tag.

How is this going to help you increase traffic? Simple! It’s going to give you all the credit for your links. When you have a homepage with 2 different versions you are splitting your “link juice”. http://startuploans.org and http://www.startuploans.org/ are two completely different sites as far as the search engines are concerned. Fix this issue and canonicalize your URL’s and you will see a benefit in your rankings which will equal more traffic.

Well, that does it for now. I hope I helped you increase traffic to your site or blog. The worst thing you can do is nothing. So, expierement with different methods of driving traffic and see what works best for you. These methods are more universal and proven. Until next time, thanks for reading.

The Key to a Successful Business is your Reputation

22 Jan

How people perceive the products or services you offer will dictate the success of your business. Gathering data on consumer feedback used to be a tedious and expensive process. But with the advancement of technology, it is now possible to cover the widest range of consumer feedback while data gathering has become easier and faster.

The most commonly used strategy for gathering consumer feedback is ORM or Online Reputation Management. This is the process of monitoring a brand, product, service or business online. Having a reliable ORM system helps in dealing negative consumer feedback while proactively protecting the business through various conversation channels online.

ORM allows business owners to act quickly on any opportunities for improvement related to his product or service. This is through real time discussions of its direct customers. Customer satisfaction, therefore, is significantly improved since you are able to cater to their specific taste.

Online Reputation Management does not only monitor customer opinions but those of the competitors as well. Knowing how your competitors fare in the market is a huge motivation in constantly improving what you can offer.

ORM is not solely dedicated to the products and services, it also helps in maintaining a reputable image for all shareholders. Customers, after all, would rather do business with a respectable entity. The amount of information that circulates in the internet is overwhelming that it can break or make a business. Having a good ORM scheme in line promotes customer loyalty. And the long term relationship that a business establishes with its customers is what matters if you want profitability.
